In 1993, when the war in Bosnia was fast becoming increasingly atrocious and bloody, the UN decided to prevent the further escalation and especially the participation of the Serbian air forces by enforcing the no-fly zone over the Bosnia. UN commissioned NATO forces for this task and on April 12, 1993, the operation named Deny Flight begun. It lasted over two years and 12 nations participated in it. I was lucky to cover the first days of this operation, photographing the US Marines and Seals preparing for the possible landing on the Adriatic coast, refueling of the NATO fighter jets high above the Adriatic Sea, and the action on the deck of the USS CVN-71 Theodore Roosevelt carrier. While I was working for the daily newspaper, still printed in B&W at that time, and therefore the great majority of my photos was shot on B&W films, I shot the few rolls of Ektachrome too, just in case... Here are few photos in color I took on the Theodore Roosevelt.
